Anil Ravipudi (born 23 November 1982) is an Indian film director and screenwriter in Telugu cinema. He is best known for action comedies and, later, fast-paced family entertainers. Since his debut with Pataas (2015), he has had a long run of hits, including F2: Fun and Frustration (2019), Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020) and Sankranthiki Vasthunam (2025). His Bhagavanth Kesari (2023) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
Early life and writing career
Ravipudi was born in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. After finishing his B.Tech at Vignan college in 2005, he became an assistant director to his uncle, P. A. Arun Prasad. He went on to write dialogue for films such as Sankham (2009) and Kandireega (2011), and co-wrote the scripts of Masala (2013) and Aagadu (2014).
Debut with Pataas
Ravipudi pitched Pataas to Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, who also produced it. The action comedy was well reviewed and succeeded at the box office, and it won Ravipudi the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director – Telugu.
Action comedies and the F franchise
He followed Pataas with the action comedies Supreme (2016) and Raja The Great (2017), and then the comedy F2 (2019). F2 was selected for the Indian Panorama mainstream section of the 50th IFFI. He then wrote and directed the standalone sequel F3 (2022). He described it as a new story in which the leads are frustrated by money, and it was a commercial success. Four of his films were produced by Dil Raju.
Family entertainers
Ravipudi later moved towards family entertainers that mix quick-fire humour and action with themes of relationships and the importance of women in society. Sarileru Neekevvaru drew huge audiences, and Bhagavanth Kesari won a National Film Award.
Sankranthiki Vasthunam and later films
In 2025 he reunited with Dil Raju and Venkatesh on Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Despite mixed reviews, it became the highest-grossing comedy in Telugu cinema and Venkatesh’s highest-grossing solo film. His 2026 Sankranti release, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, was also a box-office hit.
