Radha Krishna Kumar (born 2 August 1984) is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works mainly in Telugu cinema. He trained under Chandra Sekhar Yeleti, made his directing debut with Jil (2015), and directed the big-budget Prabhas period romance Radhe Shyam (2022).
Assistant director
He worked as an assistant director to Chandra Sekhar Yeleti on Anukokunda Oka Roju (2005), Okkadunnadu (2007), Prayanam (2009) and Sahasam (2013).
Writer
On Prayanam and Sahasam he was also first assistant director and wrote the screenplay and dialogue. Sahasam, an adventure film starring Gopichand and Taapsee Pannu, was well reviewed and later gained a cult following.
Jil
He made his directing debut with Jil (2015), produced by UV Creations.
Radhe Shyam
His second film, Radhe Shyam, was produced by UV Creations and T-Series and shot in both Telugu and Hindi. It stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, with Krishnam Raju and Jayaram among the supporting cast. Set in 1970s Italy, it follows a renowned young astrologer torn between his destiny and his love. Filming ran from October 2018 to July 2021 in Hyderabad, Italy, London and Georgia, and used on-set virtual production for a London scene.
Release and box office
After a pandemic delay, Radhe Shyam was released on 11 March 2022 to mixed reviews that praised the performances, music and production values but faulted the screenplay. According to the source, it grossed ₹140–214 crore, the third-highest Telugu gross of the year, but its budget of over ₹200 crore made it a box-office failure.
