Megha Akash (born 26 October 1995) is an Indian actress who works mainly in Tamil and Telugu films. She made her debut in the Telugu film Lie (2017), entered Tamil cinema with Petta and Hindi cinema with Satellite Shankar, both in 2019, and has since appeared in films such as Raja Raja Chora (2021) and Premadesam (2023).

Early life

Megha was born in Madras (now Chennai) to a Telugu father and a Malayali mother, both of whom work in advertising. She went to the Lady Andal School in Chennai and earned a B.Sc. in Visual Communications from Women’s Christian College, Chennai.

Telugu debut

Her first film was Lie, opposite Nithiin. A Sify reviewer felt she was fine but that her role was poorly written, and the film brought her a SIIMA nomination for Best Female Debut – Telugu. The following year she was paired with Nithiin again in Chal Mohan Ranga. Both films were average performers at the box office.

Tamil and Hindi

Although she had first shot the Tamil film Enai Noki Paayum Thota with Dhanush, her first Tamil release was Petta in 2019, opposite Sananth. Petta became her first commercial success and is among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time. Her other releases that year were Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven with Silambarasan and Boomerang with Atharvaa, and she moved into Hindi films with Satellite Shankar, opposite Sooraj Pancholi, where a reviewer described her as cute and quirky and praised the pair’s chemistry.

Her only 2020 release was Oru Pakka Kathai, opposite Kalidas Jayaram.

Four releases in 2021

In 2021 she appeared in the Tamil film Kutty Story, the Hindi film Radhe, and two Telugu films: Raja Raja Chora, opposite Sree Vishnu, and Dear Megha, opposite Adith Arun and Arjun Somayajula. Only Raja Raja Chora was a box office success; a reviewer noted that she had a well-written character with room to assert herself and did it justice. In Dear Megha, a remake of the Kannada film Dia, she played the title role, and even a critic who disliked the film credited her with bringing life to the emotional scenes.

A busy 2023

After Gurthunda Seethakalam (2022) with Satyadev, a remake of the Kannada film Love Mocktail, she had seven releases in 2023. These were Premadesam opposite Thrigun, Single Shankarum Smartphone Simranum opposite Shiva, Ravanasura with Ravi Teja, Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir opposite Vijay Sethupathi, Manu Charitra opposite Shiva Kandukuri, Saba Nayagan opposite Ashok Selvan, and Boo. Premadesam and Saba Nayagan were the commercial successes of the group, and one reviewer said she impressed in Premadesam.

Recent work and personal life

In 2024 she starred opposite Santhanam in Vadakkupatti Ramasamy and played the lead opposite Vijay Antony in Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan; neither film did well at the box office.

She married Saai Vishnu, the son of former Union Minister of State for Shipping Su. Thirunavukkarasar, in a traditional ceremony in Chennai on 15 September 2024.
