Nisha Aggarwal

Nisha Aggarwal is a former Indian actress and model who appeared in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films in the early 2010s. She is the younger sister of the actress Kajal Aggarwal, and began her film career with the Telugu romantic drama Yemaindi Ee Vela.

Family background

Nisha grew up in Mumbai, where her family had settled. Her father, Vinay Aggarwal, is an entrepreneur in the textile business, and her mother, Suman Aggarwal, is a confectioner who also manages Kajal’s business affairs.

Entry into films

In late 2010 Kajal Aggarwal announced that Nisha would be making her debut in Telugu films. Nisha had been accompanying her sister to film sets and was soon noticed; by her own account, her first role came after a director saw pictures of her in a magazine.

That first film, Yemaindi Ee Vela, was a box office success, and critics praised her performance. Her next film, Solo, came out in late 2011 and cast her as a medical college student; a Rediff reviewer felt she showed her acting ability in the second half, particularly in the climax.

Tamil and later Telugu films

Her Tamil debut, Ishtam (2012), was a remake of Yemaindi Ee Vela, but it failed at the box office. In 2013 she played a lively village girl in Sukumarudu, alongside Aadi and Bhavna Ruparel, and later that year reunited with her Yemaindi Ee Vela co-star Varun Sandesh in Saradaga Ammayitho.

Malayalam films

She moved into Malayalam cinema in 2014 with Bhaiyya Bhaiyya, playing Angel, an educated and headstrong daughter of a former minister. She followed it with another Malayalam film, Cousins, the same year.

Personal life

On 28 December 2013 she married Karan Valecha, a Mumbai-based businessman who owns a chain of Gold’s Gym outlets. Their son, Ishaan, was born on 27 October 2017.
