Operation Gold Fish is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language action thriller written and directed by Sai Kiran Adivi and produced by Vinayakudu Talkies and U&I Entertainments. It is inspired by the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in the 1990s. Aadi plays an NSG commando, alongside Nithya Naresh, Sasha Chhetri, Karthik Raju and Parvateesam, and the writer Abburi Ravi plays the antagonist. It was released on 18 October 2019 to mixed reviews and failed at the box office.
Premise
The film is a patriotic thriller centred on an NSG commando, set against events drawn from the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.
Script changes
After the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the script was revised to fit the new situation, and new scenes were shot reflecting the aspirations of Kashmiri Pandits.
Filming
The film was shot at locations including Araku, Lambasingi, Chintapalli, Kashmir, Delhi, Kakinada Port and Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
Music
Sricharan Pakala composed the soundtrack, with lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry.
Reception
123telugu.com gave it 2.75 out of 5 and called it a passable patriotic drama let down by a weak screenplay. The Times of India gave it 2 out of 5 and felt the subject needed more sensitive handling. The film was a box-office failure.
