Bhamakalapam

Bhamakalapam: a cooking creator caught in a crime story

Bhamakalapam is the 2022 Telugu dark comedy-thriller with Priyamani as Anupama, a homemaker who makes cooking videos. Her curiosity about the people in her apartment complex draws her into events involving a stolen valuable egg and a suspicious death. The cooking channel is part of her character; this is a crime film, not a recipe programme.

Anupama’s habit of investigating her neighbours makes it difficult for her to stay out of trouble once the mystery reaches her building. Shilpa, played by Sharanya Pradeep, is important to that apartment-community storyline. This overview leaves the culprit and the resolution unspoiled.

Cast and the two music credits

Abhimanyu Tadimeti wrote and directed the film, produced under SVCC Digital. Priyamani, Kishore, John Vijay, Shanthi Rao and Sharanya Pradeep are listed in the film reference. That source distinguishes Justin Prabhakaran’s soundtrack from Mark K. Robin’s score; the music field in the facts above records Robin, not an assertion that he alone handled every music job.

Was it released directly on OTT?

Yes. Bhamakalapam premiered on Aha on 11 February 2022. The Indian Express’s pre-release interview with Priyamani identifies it as an original web-only film and gives that premiere date. The film-release and OTT dates in this record therefore refer to the same direct-to-streaming launch, not two separate theatrical and digital releases.

The official Aha listing currently offers a premium 2-hour-13-minute version, matching the 133-minute runtime on file, and shows a U/A 13+ classification. Subscription, language options and regional access should be checked there. Listing checked 3 October 2026.

Bhamakalapam versus Bhamakalapam 2

This is the first film, not the 2024 sequel. Our separate Bhamakalapam 2 record keeps the sequel’s cast and release information apart. Watching the first instalment gives the earlier Anupama story before moving to the sequel; a sequel listing should not be used as the watch link for this film.

Use the original film’s OTT page for its streaming record, or browse the 2022 Telugu film archive for other releases that year.
