Peddi is a 2026 Indian Telugu-language sports action drama written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana. It was produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, co-produced by Ishan Saksena of IVY Entertainment, and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. Ram Charan plays the title role alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor and Jagapathi Babu. Released on 4 June 2026 to mixed reviews, it became the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2026 but underperformed outside the Telugu states.

Story

In 2016, after India’s poor showing at the Olympics, a sports ministry official touring a town in Andhra Pradesh notices young athletes who all credit their drive to a man named Peddi. He treks to a remote hilltop village to learn Peddi’s story. The film then goes back to 1994 and a marginalised tribal hamlet in the Vizianagaram region, whose people face discrimination, exploitation and violence.

Development and casting

Ram Charan confirmed the film with Buchi Babu Sana in November 2022. It was launched by Chiranjeevi on 20 March 2024 under the working title RC16, and the title Peddi was announced in March 2025. Charan changed his physique for the role and learned the Vizianagaram dialect. Shiva Rajkumar joined in January 2024 and Janhvi Kapoor was named the female lead that March. Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu came on board in November 2024, and Boman Irani in December 2025. Shruti Haasan appears in a special song. R. Rathnavelu was the cinematographer.

Filming

Principal photography began in Mysuru on 22 November 2024 and continued in Hyderabad, Colombo, Kanyakumari and Pune. Production designer Avinash Kolla built a large set recreating a 1980s coastal town near Hyderabad. The song “Chikiri” was filmed at Savalya Ghat near Pune, and a romantic number was shot in Sri Lanka. After Charan suffered a minor injury in March 2026, filming wrapped at the end of April 2026.

Music

A. R. Rahman composed the songs and score. According to the source, T-Series bought the global music rights for ₹35 crore. The singles “Chikiri Chikiri”, “Rai Rai Raa Raa”, “Hellallallo” and “Massa Massa” were released between November 2025 and May 2026.
