Deeksha Seth (born 14 February 1990) is an Indian actress and model who has worked mainly in Telugu and Tamil films. A finalist at Femina Miss India 2009, she made her acting debut in Krish‘s acclaimed Telugu anthology film Vedam (2010) and went on to appear opposite several leading Telugu stars.

Early life

Seth was born in Delhi. Her father worked for ITC Limited and was transferred often, so the family lived in many parts of India, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in Kathmandu, Nepal. She went to school in Chennai up to the third class and later enrolled at a college in Mumbai.

Miss India

In 2009, during her first year of college, a scout for the Femina Miss India contest spotted her at an NSS event and persuaded her to try modelling and enter the pageant. With help from a friend of her father’s she put together a portfolio, and despite having no modelling experience she reached the top 10 and won the Fresh Face title.

Vedam

While she was on a modelling assignment in Hyderabad, the casting director of Vedam noticed her. She was chosen, after the makers had turned down 70 other candidates, to play Pooja, the wealthy girlfriend of Cable Raju, the character played by Allu Arjun. The film opened to strong critical acclaim and won awards at several ceremonies.

Leading roles

She quickly signed more films. Mirapakay was released next, followed two weeks later by the action drama Wanted, opposite Gopichand, which was her first film as the main female lead. She then signed three more Telugu films: Rebel, with Prabhas and Tamannaah; Nippu, opposite Ravi Teja; and the socio-fantasy film Uu Kodathara? Ulikki Padathara?.
