Sankranthiki Vasthunam (transl. We Are Coming for Sankranthi) is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language action comedy written and directed by Anil Ravipudi and produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. It stars Venkatesh, Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary. Released for Sankranti on 14 January 2025 to generally positive reviews, it was a huge box-office success. According to the source, it grossed ₹258–300 crore worldwide and was the second-highest-grossing Telugu film of the year.

Story

Satya Akella, a global businessman visiting India at the Telangana Chief Minister’s invitation, is kidnapped by a gang who want to trade him for their leader’s jailed brother. When the jailer refuses to release the prisoner without government approval, police officer Meenakshi turns to her former lover, YD Raju, a retired encounter specialist. Raju takes on the rescue mission, only to find himself caught between his suspicious wife and his ex-girlfriend.

Production

The film was announced in July 2024 as Ravipudi’s third film with Venkatesh after F2 and F3. It was provisionally titled SVC 58 or VenkyAnil3, and the final title was announced in November 2024. Principal photography began on 11 July 2024 and took place in Rajahmundry, Hyderabad, Kasaragod, Koraput, Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh, with the climax shot in Kadapa. Sameer Reddy was the cinematographer.

Music

Bheems Ceciroleo composed the music. The soundtrack album was released on 14 January 2025, after the film opened.

Release

Sri Venkateswara Creations distributed the film itself in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with separate distributors for North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. According to the source, ZEE5 paid ₹30 crore for the streaming rights. The film premiered on Zee Telugu and began streaming on ZEE5 on 1 March 2025.

Reception and sequel

Critics largely enjoyed it as a light family entertainer. OTTplay gave it 3.5 out of 5 and praised Venkatesh’s comic performance, and India Today and Cinema Express each gave it 3 out of 5. Times Now felt a tighter script would have helped. After its success, Venkatesh announced a sequel, which Ravipudi planned as Malli Sankranthiki Vasthunam.
