Venky Kudumula is an Indian film director who works in Telugu films. He has directed Chalo (2018), Bheeshma (2020) and Robinhood (2025).
Early career
Kudumula moved into films while studying agriculture and business management at Acharya N. G. Ranga University. He began as an assistant director to Teja on Neeku Naku Dash Dash (2012) and Thoofan (2013). He later assisted on Jadoogadu (2015) and A Aa (2016).
Chalo
His debut, Chalo (2018), starred Naga Shaurya, whom he had worked with on Jadoogadu, and Rashmika Mandanna in her Telugu debut. Set in a village on the Andhra Pradesh–Tamil Nadu border, it cast Tamil actors in key roles. The Times of India said he cleverly turned a clichéd story into a fun ride, and The Hindu said he threw new light on old stereotypes. It became Naga Shaurya’s highest-grossing film.
Bheeshma
His second film, Bheeshma, starred Nithiin and reunited him with Rashmika Mandanna. Like Chalo, it was well reviewed. The Hindu and The Times of India both praised the way he tied the story’s threads together by the end.
Later projects
In December 2021 a film with Chiranjeevi, to be produced by DVV Entertainments, was announced but later shelved for undisclosed reasons.
Robinhood
In 2022 he reunited with Nithiin for Robinhood, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Sreeleela replaced Rashmika because of her schedule, and G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the music. It was scheduled for release on 28 March 2025, for Ugadi.
