Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene (transl. I’m the Shadow That Doesn’t Leave You) is a 2019 Indian Telugu supernatural romantic thriller written and directed by Caarthick Raju. It stars Sundeep Kishan and Anya Singh. It was shot at the same time in Tamil as Kannaadi, a version that remains unreleased. The Telugu film was released on 12 July 2019.
Story
Rishi and Diya are college students who married without their parents’ approval. Driving home from Diya’s birthday celebration, a distracted Rishi crashes into a road roller parked on a deserted road. Shaken, they follow a flickering light to a funeral pyre at a crematorium. When they get home, their reflections in the mirror show different faces.
Music
S. Thaman composed the music, released by Think Music India.
Release
The film was released on 12 July 2019. A Hindi dubbed version, Main Hoon Sarfira Jigrawala, premiered on Sony Max on 19 September 2022.
Reception
The Hindu said it was not the smartest horror film but tried something new, though the taut first half was not matched by the second. The Times of India called it promising in parts but felt it lost steam when it mattered most.
Tamil version
The Tamil version, Kannaadi, was filmed alongside the Telugu one but has not been released.
