Story
Two men are arrested in the Czech Republic on complaints filed by one man’s wife and the other’s girlfriend, and they tell their story to an embassy official. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music in his first film with Ravipudi, and Aditya Music bought the audio rights. Singles such as “Rechipodham Brother”, “Entho Fun” and “Honey is the Best” came out in December 2018, and the audio launch took place at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on 30 December 2018.
Release and box office
The film opened worldwide on 12 January 2019 and was later dubbed into Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. According to the source, it grossed ₹17.2 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on its first day and passed US$2 million in the United States by its third weekend. The source gives two lifetime figures: ₹127.2–140 crore in its summary, against a budget of ₹30 crore, and more than ₹185 crore worldwide in its box-office section. By either count it was one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of 2019. It was also selected for the Indian Panorama mainstream section at the 50th IFFI.
Reception
The Hindu credited good casting and praised Venkatesh’s comic timing, and Firstpost gave it 3.5 out of 5 as an entertaining, well-meant comedy. The Times of India gave it 2.5 and credited Venkatesh with saving the film, while warning that its humour and gender tropes were dated.
