Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga

Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga (meaning “In all glory”) is a 2022 Telugu romantic drama written and directed by Gireeshaaya, in his Telugu debut, and produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Ketika Sharma play the leads, with Naveen Chandra, Prabhu and Naresh. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music. Released on 2 September 2022, it received negative reviews for its familiar story and was a box-office failure.

What the story is about

Rishi and Radha are the children of two best friends, born on the same day in the same hospital. They fall for each other at 14, but after a fight over a classmate who harasses Radha, they slap each other and vow never to speak again until the other breaks the silence first. Ten years later they are both medical students, still in love and still not talking, while their families have grown even closer. Radha’s elder brother Arjun, an aspiring politician, and his rivals bring new trouble to both households. The film follows whether the stubborn pair will ever end their silence.

How it was made

The film was announced, and shooting began, on 2 April 2021 under the working title #Vaisshnav3, as Vaisshnav Tej’s third film. The title Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga was revealed on 24 January 2022. Devi Sri Prasad composed the songs and score, with audio rights held by Sony Music India; The Times of India reported his collaboration with singer Armaan Malik on the album.

Release and reception

Announced for 27 May 2022 and then 1 July 2022, the film finally opened on 2 September 2022. Reviews were negative. Neeshita Nyayapati of The Times of India (2 out of 5) called it “an outdated mess”, and Balakrishna Ganeshan of The News Minute (2 out of 5) wrote that it borrows scenes from old hits such as Manasantha Nuvve instead of telling an original story. Sakshi Post (2 out of 5) found it routine and predictable, and Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu said its storyline “belongs to the mid-90s and early 2000s”. Wikipedia describes it as Vaisshnav Tej’s second consecutive box-office failure; no collection figures are cited.
