Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi

Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi (styled Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi) is a 2025 Telugu action thriller directed by Pradeep Chilukuri, in which Nandamuri Kalyan Ram plays Arjun, an IPS aspirant turned gangster who sets out to protect his mother, the upright IPS officer Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanti), from a terrorist seeking revenge. It opened in theatres on 18 April 2025, runs 144 minutes, and streams on Prime Video.

What the story is about

Vyjayanthi is an honest police officer willing to risk her life for the country, and her son Arjun once dreamed of following her into the IPS. Instead he has become a kind-hearted gangster. When Arjun learns that Pathan (Sohail Khan), a notorious terrorist, wants revenge on Vyjayanthi, he puts himself between his mother and the threat. The film is built around the mother-son bond and a series of action set pieces; we stop at the set-up here.

The film is presented as a spiritual sequel to the 1990 film Karthavyam, with Vijayashanti returning to a similar role, now as the hero’s mother.

Release and reception

Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi was released on 18 April 2025 to mixed reviews. Raisa Nasreen of Times Now (3/5) liked the action and the lead performances but said the writing needed work, and Telugucinema.com noted that the final twenty minutes and Vijayashanti’s presence drew particular attention. Aditya Devulapally of Cinema Express (2/5) felt it faltered in execution, and Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu called it “an outdated, curious saga of a mother, son and birthday cakes”. We have not found a box-office figure from a reliable named outlet, so none is given here.
