Legend is a 2014 Telugu-language action drama directed by Boyapati Srinu and produced by 14 Reels Entertainment and Varahi Chalana Chitram. It stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in a dual role, with Jagapathi Babu, Sonal Chauhan and Radhika Apte. Released on 28 March 2014 to positive reviews, it was the fourth highest-grossing Telugu film of the year and became only the second South Indian film to run for more than 1,000 days.
Story
In 1987, Jitendra, a cruel faction leader from Kurnool, is humiliated and arrested after clashing with the head of a family that stands with ordinary people, and his vengeful father strikes back at that family. The conflict leaves Jitendra with a lifelong grudge. Years later the feud flares up again, drawing Balakrishna’s characters into a bloody confrontation with him.

Production and music
The muhurtham was held in Hyderabad on 3 June 2013, and regular shooting began at Ramoji Film City on 13 July 2013, with a car chase and a song filmed in the deserts of Dubai. C. Ram Prasad was the cinematographer and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao the editor. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music, his third film with Boyapati and first with Balakrishna; the audio was launched on 6 March 2014 in Hyderabad.
Release and reception
The film opened in 700 theatres in the state and over 1,200 worldwide. Idlebrain praised Balakrishna’s ferocious performance and the dialogue while noting heavy bloodshed, and The Times of India found it a lot like Simha with weaker music. According to the source it grossed over ₹70 crore worldwide. It ran 100 days in 31 centres, and completed 1,000 days in Proddatur.
Awards
Balakrishna won the Nandi Award for Best Actor and the SIIMA Award for Best Actor for the film. For Jagapathi Babu, the villain Jitendra was his first antagonist role and marked a new phase of his career.
