30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela (transl. How to Fall in Love in 30 Days?), also known as 30RPE, is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language fantasy romance directed by newcomer Munna Dhulipudi. It stars Pradeep Machiraju, in his first lead role, and Amritha Aiyer. The film is built around reincarnation and body swapping, and was released on 29 January 2021 to mixed reviews.
Story
In 1947, a young couple who want to marry are torn apart by tragedy. They are reborn as Arjun and Akshara, who end up at the same engineering college in Vizag and dislike each other on sight. Fate takes them to the place where their past selves died, and they wake up in each other’s bodies. A swami tells them to come back after 30 days to be restored.
Production
The director cast Amritha Aiyer after seeing her in a song from Padaiveeran. The film was produced by S. V. Babu, whose earlier productions include Keratam and Andamaina Manasulo. It was shot in Rajahmundry and Kerala.
Music
The three-song soundtrack was released by Lahari Music. “Neeli Neeli Aakasam” became a huge hit, topping the Telugu music charts and building interest in the film before release.
Release
The film was due for Ugadi 2020 but was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was finally released on 29 January 2021 and, according to the source, grossed ₹4 crore on its first day.
Reception
Reviews were mostly negative to middling. The Times of India said it had its heart in the right place but suffered from an outdated, predictable story. The New Indian Express found it jarring and unfunny, calling “Neeli Neeli Aakasam” its only bright spot. The Hans India liked the flashback love story but found the present-day scenes slow, and called it a one-time watch.
