Nikhil Siddhartha (born 1 June 1985) is an Indian actor and producer who works mainly in Telugu cinema. After supporting roles, he broke through as one of the four leads in Sekhar Kammula‘s Happy Days (2007), and has since become known for thrillers and mystery dramas such as Swamy Ra Ra (2013), Karthikeya (2014) and Karthikeya 2 (2022), which established him as one of Telugu cinema’s most bankable young stars.
Early life
Nikhil was born in Begumpet, Hyderabad; his father, Kavali Shyam Siddhartha, came from Mahbubnagar. At Hyderabad Public School his classmates included Rana Daggubati, Ram Charan and Sharwanand. He graduated from Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology.
Happy Days
He started as an assistant director on Hyderabad Nawabs (2006) and played small parts, including in Sambaram (2003), before Sekhar Kammula cast him as one of the four leads in Happy Days. He was paid ₹25,000 for the role and has kept the cheque. The low-budget film was one of the most successful of 2007.
Distinct scripts
His first solo lead was Ankit, Pallavi & Friends (2008), followed by films such as Yuvatha (2008) and Aalasyam Amrutham (2010). Swamy Ra Ra (2013) was a commercial success and marked a shift towards distinctive scripts. Karthikeya (2014) was a critical and commercial success; the source says it was made for ₹4–6 crore and collected more than ₹20 crore. He reunited with Sudheer Varma for the revenge drama Keshava (2017), playing a man with dextrocardia, and his performance was praised.
Later films
Other successes include Surya vs Surya (2015) and Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada (2016). The campus film Kirrak Party (2018), a remake of the Kannada Kirik Party, underperformed, but Arjun Suravaram (2019) was a success. With Karthikeya 2 (2022) he entered the ₹100 crore club, and he has since worked on the pan-Indian film Spy (2023).
