Chi La Sow (transl. Bride-to-be) is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy that marked the directing debut of Rahul Ravindran. It stars Sushanth and Ruhani Sharma, in her Telugu debut, and was produced by Siruni Cine Corporation and presented by Annapurna Studios. Rahul Ravindran won the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film.

Story

Arjun, a carefree 27-year-old bachelor, a proud Salman Khan fan and a devotee of Lord Hanuman, has no plans to marry for at least five years. His parents keep pressing him to settle down, and his best friend and colleague Sujit, a middle-aged bachelor desperate to marry, joins them. Arjun’s mother finally persuades him to at least meet a prospective bride, and the film unfolds over a single night.

Cast

Sushanth plays Arjun, a different kind of role from his earlier commercial films. Ruhani Sharma plays the female lead, and singer Chinmayi, Rahul Ravindran’s wife, dubbed her voice.

Music

Prashanth R. Vihari composed the score. Kittu Vissapragada wrote all the song lyrics except “Mellaga Mellaga”, which was written by Sri Sai Kiran.

Reception

The New Indian Express, The Times of India, India Today and Deccan Chronicle all gave it 3 out of 5. India Today said viewers end up falling in love with its characters as the story progresses. Deccan Chronicle said Sushanth did full justice to his role. The Times of India noted it might not suit those looking for conventional entertainment, and The News Minute called it a clean film with urban sensibilities.

Award
