Eleven is a 2025 Indian slasher thriller written and directed by Lokkesh Ajls in his debut and shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. It stars Naveen Chandra with Reyaa Hari, Abhirami, Ravi Varma, Dileepan, Riythvika, Shashank, Aadukalam Naren and Arjai. Released on 16 May 2025, it drew generally positive responses, with particular praise for its twist-filled second half and Naveen Chandra’s performance.
Story
A serial killer is leaving burned bodies around the city, and the death toll reaches six. When the officer first assigned to the case is left in a coma after a road accident, the investigation passes to ACP Aravindan, a sharp and determined officer. He takes up the hunt with Sub-Inspector Manoharan, a single father with a heart condition.
Production
Lokkesh Ajls, an associate of director Sundar C. on films such as Kalakalappu 2 and Action, announced his debut in August 2023. The bilingual was launched with a pooja, with Naveen Chandra in the lead and producer Reyaa Hari as the female lead. Kireeti Damaraju also joined the cast. The teaser, released on 19 June 2024 by Dhanush and Nikhil Siddhartha, showed Naveen as a police officer handed a murder case. Karthik Ashokan was the cinematographer and N. B. Srikanth the editor.
Music
D. Imman composed the music. Kamal Haasan launched the first single, “The Devil is Waiting”, sung by Shruti Haasan with lyrics by the director, on 11 October 2024. The second single came out in both languages in November 2024.
Release
First planned for November 2024, the film was released on 16 May 2025. Its streaming rights went to several platforms, including Amazon Prime Video and Aha.
Reception
Critics praised the second half’s suspense, the performances, Imman’s score and the cinematography, though some found the first half predictable. Cinema Express and The Times of India gave it 2.5 out of 5, while Sakshi Post called it a visually engaging, moody thriller.
