Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali

Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali (transl. I Must Tell You About That Girl) is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama written and directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti and produced by Benchmark Studios and Mythri Movie Makers. It stars Sudheer Babu and Krithi Shetty. It was released on 16 September 2022 to mixed reviews and was a box-office failure.

Story

Naveen, a Telugu film director fresh from his sixth hit in a row, wants to make a female-centred commercial film. When he stumbles on an old film reel of a young woman acting, he is captivated and tracks her down. She is Alekhya, an eye doctor, and he tries to persuade her to act in his film. Her family has a deep dislike of film people, however, and she turns against him.

Production

The film was announced in November 2020 under the working title #Sudheer14. It was Sudheer Babu’s third film with Indraganti, after Sammohanam (2018) and V (2020). Krithi Shetty joined in January 2021, and principal photography began on 1 March 2021. The title was announced that month. P. G. Vinda was the cinematographer and Marthand K. Venkatesh the editor.

Music

Vivek Sagar composed the songs and score, and Saregama acquired the music rights.

Reception

Reviews were mixed. The Hindu called it an earnest and fairly engaging ode to cinema, and The Times of India gave it 3 out of 5 while wishing some scenes were better written. Pinkvilla, The Hans India and Sakshi Post were more critical, pointing to patchy writing and a lack of anything new. The film failed at the box office.
