What is Colour Photo about?

Colour Photo is a Telugu period romantic drama directed by Sandeep Raj. Its central relationship is between two college students, played by Suhas and Chandini Chowdary, whose affection runs into prejudice about skin colour and social standing. Set against a 1990s Andhra Pradesh backdrop, the story moves beyond whether they will admit their feelings: family opposition and unequal treatment shape what their relationship can become.

This guide introduces the story and viewing options without explaining the ending. It is not a firsthand review, and the award discussed below is an official result rather than a rating assigned by this site.

Cast and credits

Suhas and Chandini Chowdary lead the film, with Sunil playing the heroine’s brother. Aha’s cast listing also includes Harsha Chemudu, Divya Sripada and Adarsh Balakrishna. Sandeep Raj directed the film, Sai Rajesh supplied the story, and Kaala Bhairava composed the music. The production companies are Amrutha Productions and Loukya Entertainments.

Which National Award did Colour Photo win?

Colour Photo won the Telugu-language feature-film award at the 68th National Film Awards. The Government of India’s official results, announced on 22 July 2022 for films of 2020, list it under Best Telugu Film and name producer Amrutha Productions and director Angirekula Sandeep Raj.

This is the language-specific category, not the overall Best Feature Film award. The difference also explains why a 2020 release appears in a 2022 awards announcement; the award year and release year should not be confused.

Release and where to watch

The film originally premiered on Aha on 23 October 2020. Aha’s official viewing page currently lists it as a Premium title, with Telugu and Tamil viewing options. A subscription may be required, and playback availability can differ by country and account. We checked the public listing, not paid playback.

Aha displays a running time of 2 hours 21 minutes, while the film reference used for our catalogue gives 142 minutes. Those figures differ by a minute; we have not established a different cut or changed the catalogue runtime on that assumption. For a preview, use Aha’s official trailer page. The viewing link, trailer and historical premiere date are distinct from a guarantee of uninterrupted access since release.
