Maaya is a 2014 Telugu psychological supernatural thriller directed by Neelakanta and produced by Dr. M. V. K. Reddy and Madhura Sreedhar Reddy under Shirdi Sai Combines. Harshvardhan Rane, Avantika Mishra, Sushma Raj and Nandini Rai play the leads. The film is built around extrasensory perception (ESP). It was released on 1 August 2014 and runs 120 minutes.
What the story is about
Meghana has had visions of things that are about to happen since childhood; at the age of 6 she foresaw her mother’s death and could not prevent it. Fifteen years later she is a journalist. On an assignment she meets the fashion designer Siddharth Varma and is drawn to him, and then she starts to see visions in which Siddharth harms the people around him. She has to work out what the visions really mean before one of them comes true.

Music and making
Shekar Chandra composed the soundtrack, with lyrics by Balaji, Rama D and Sira Sri. The film was shot in Hyderabad and around Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and its official trailer was released on 13 June 2014.
Reception and the Hindi remake plan
The Times of India rated it 3/5, saying that it is not a run-of-the-mill commercial entertainer but still feels strangely familiar. After the release, Hindustan Times reported that Mahesh Bhatt had announced a Hindi remake titled Murder 4, to be directed by Neelakanta and co-produced by Madhura Sreedhar.
