Satyadev Kancharana (born 4 July 1988) is an Indian actor who works mainly in Telugu cinema. After starting in small supporting parts, he became a leading man with films such as Bluff Master (2018), Brochevarevarura (2019), iSmart Shankar (2019) and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya (2020). He has won a SIIMA Award and received two Filmfare Award South nominations.
Early life
Satyadev was born in Visakhapatnam and went to SFS School and Nalanda Talent School there. He graduated in Computer Science Engineering from MVGR College of Engineering in Vizianagaram. He worked as a virtual design architect for IBM and VMware until 2016, when he left to concentrate on films.
Early work (2011–2017)
He made his debut in a minor role in Mr. Perfect (2011), followed by small parts in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Attarintiki Daredi and Mukunda. His first major role came in Maine Pyar Kiya (2014), where Deccan Chronicle praised how well he played two versions of one character. He was picked from over 500 hopefuls for the male lead in Jyothi Lakshmi (2015), which brought him recognition. In 2016 he played a businessman in Kshanam and an auto driver in Mana Oori Ramayanam, both well-received films. In 2017 he played a sonar operator in the bilingual The Ghazi Attack.
Leading roles (2018–2020)
After a dual role in Antariksham 9000 KMPH, he played a con man opposite Nandita Swetha in Bluff Master (2018). In 2019 he played an assistant director in the hit Brochevarevarura and a CBI officer in iSmart Shankar, and critics praised his mature, solid performances. He also made his web debut as a gangster in Gods of Dharmapuri. In 2020 he played an army officer in Sarileru Neekevvaru. The same year he played a photographer in Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, his most critically acclaimed film.
2021–2022
He played an advocate in Thimmarusu (2021) and a crook in Skylab. In 2022 he had a cameo in Acharya and played a businessman turned rebel in Godse. He played an ambitious politician in Godfather, which earned him a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu. He made his Hindi debut in Ram Setu.
2024 films
After a year without releases in 2023, he returned in 2024 as an orphan in Krishnamma and a bank employee in Zebra, and The Hindu called him sharp as ever.
