Vamsi Krishna (born 1984) is an Indian actor who works mainly in Telugu and Tamil films. He made his debut in Gharshana (2004) and became known for playing villains in Tamil films such as Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012) and Ivan Veramathiri (2013).
Early life
Vamsi Krishna was born in Visakhapatnam into a family of doctors. Before films, he was studying for a Bachelor of Business Management in London.
Entry into films
On a flight from London to India he met director Gautham Vasudev Menon, and their conversation led to his first role, a police officer in Gharshana (2004). He set aside 40 days for the shoot and then decided to make acting his career. He played the lead in the 2006 Telugu film Oka V Chitram, alongside Aadhi, which failed at the box office.
Telugu films
In Telugu he went on to appear in films such as Darling (2010), Nagavalli (2010), Nenu Naa Rakshasi (2011) and Attarintiki Daredi (2013).
Tamil films
Gautham Menon remained a thread through his career: his Tamil break also came through Menon’s circle, from Magizh Thirumeni, a former assistant of the director, with Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012). The role got him noticed, and A. Sarkunam cast him as a village goon in the Dhanush film Naiyaandi (2013).
Later Tamil work
He played the villain in Vikram Prabhu’s Ivan Veramathiri (2013). He is also known for Maan Karate (2014), Thani Oruvan (2015), Kuttram 23 (2017), Ayogya (2019), Yenni Thuniga (2022) and Raakadhan (2023).
