Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (lit. My Heart Slipped and Got Lost) is a 2013 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy directed by newcomer Vijay Kumar Konda and written by Harsha Vardhan. It was produced by N. Nikitha Reddy under Shresht Movies and stars Nithiin, Nithya Menen and Isha Talwar. It was a major hit and the biggest success of Nithiin’s career at the time, following Ishq (2012), which also paired him with Nithya Menen.

Story

Karthik, a software engineer who likes to make his own decisions, falls for a young woman named Sruthi at a friend’s wedding reception. A mix-up over her phone number means he actually calls Sravani, thinking she is Sruthi, and the two become close over the phone. When Sravani learns of the confusion, she takes a job as Karthik’s boss to pay him back, setting up a comedy of mistaken identity and wounded pride.

Title and crew

The title comes from a lyric in the song “Dil Se” from Gabbar Singh (2012). Anup Rubens composed the music, I. Andrew was the cinematographer, and Prawin Pudi edited the film.

Music

The soundtrack was launched in Hyderabad on 27 March 2013, with producer Dil Raju as chief guest, and was released by Shreyas Music. Krishna Chaitanya wrote four of the songs. The film also remixes “Yemaindho Yemo Ee Vela”, a hit song from Pawan Kalyan’s Tholi Prema.

Box office

According to the source, the film was made for ₹11 crore, released in over 450 theatres worldwide and collected ₹25.09 crore. It ran for 100 days in 18 centres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Awards and remakes

Nithya Menen won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. The film was dubbed into Hindi as Heart Attack 2 and into Malayalam as Magic Love, and it was remade in Kannada as Khushi Khushiyagi in 2015.
