Om Namo Venkatesaya is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language Hindu devotional biographical film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by A. Mahesh Reddy under AMR Sai Krupa Entertainments. Nagarjuna plays the devotee Hathiram Bhavaji, with Anushka Shetty, Jagapathi Babu, Saurabh Raj Jain and Pragya Jaiswal. The film was dubbed into Tamil as Akhilandakoti Brahmandanayagan. It was not a box-office success.
Story
Rama, a boy from a village near Ayodhya, leaves home as a child in search of God. A saint, Anubhavananda Swamy, promises he will find what he seeks, teaches him a game of dice and advises him to meditate. Years later, Lord Venkateswara appears to him as a child. Called away on the eve of his wedding by a vision of his mentor, Rama sets out on a spiritual journey whose devotion to the Lord goes beyond ritual.
Cast
Nagarjuna leads as Hathiram Bhavaji. Supporting roles are played by Sai Kumar, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj, Ashmita Karnani, Brahmanandam and Ajay.
Music
M. M. Keeravani composed the music, released by Lahari Music. The audio was launched at the Hitex N-Convention Centre in Hyderabad on 8 January 2017, on Mukkoti Ekadasi, by Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni. Many industry figures attended.
Reception
The Hindu recommended it for another memorable performance by Nagarjuna and for its reflection on faith beyond ritual. The New Indian Express praised its grandeur and visuals but felt the actors merely went through the motions and that the film failed to strike a chord.
Release
The film was released in Telugu with a Tamil dubbed version, Akhilandakoti Brahmandanayagan, and failed at the box office.
