Andhra King Taluka is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language action comedy-drama written and directed by Mahesh Babu P. and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series. It stars Ram Pothineni, Upendra and Bhagyashri Borse. Released on 27 November 2025, it drew positive reviews but, according to the source, flopped at the box office. It later found a very warm response on streaming.
Story
A tribute to fan culture, the film follows Sagar, a devoted fan whose life and relationships revolve around his screen idol, Surya Kumar, known as the “Andhra King”. In the 2000s, Surya is working on his landmark 100th film when the producer, after repeated losses, pulls out. That threatens to shelve the project and derail the star’s career.
Development
Ram Pothineni announced the film on 12 October 2024 under the working title RAPO22, with the director of Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty (2023). Bhagyashri Borse was announced as the female lead in November 2024, her second Telugu film after Mr. Bachchan. Upendra’s first look, released in May 2025, marked his return to Telugu cinema.
Filming
The film was launched on 21 November 2024 in Hyderabad. Gopichand Malineni switched on the camera, Hanu Raghavapudi gave the first clap and Venky Kudumula directed the first shot. Principal photography began on 6 December 2024, included a 34-day non-stop schedule in Rajahmundry, and wrapped on 1 November 2025. Siddhartha Nuni was the cinematographer and A. Sreekar Prasad the editor.
Music
The duo Vivek–Mervin composed the songs and score in their Telugu debut, and T-Series holds the music rights. The first single, “Nuvvunte Chaley”, sung by Anirudh Ravichander, marked Ram Pothineni’s debut as a lyricist, and Ram also sang “Puppy Shame”.
Release and reception
Brought forward a day to 27 November 2025, the film was praised for the lead performances, direction and music, though critics found it too long. It began streaming on Netflix on 25 December 2025.
