Thadaka (released as Tadakha; meaning “Mettle”) is a 2013 Telugu-language action thriller directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani, a remake of the 2012 Tamil film Vettai. It stars Naga Chaitanya, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil and Andrea Jeremiah. Released on 10 May 2013 to good reviews, it was a box office success and won Sunil the Filmfare and SIIMA awards for Best Supporting Actor.
Story
Sivarama Krishna and Karthik are brothers: Siva is timid, Karthik is the tough one. After their father’s death Siva inherits his police job and is posted to Vizag, a city ruled by gangsters, and whenever he is handed a dangerous case he secretly relies on Karthik to fight his battles. Romance enters when a marriage proposal comes for Siva and Karthik falls for the bride’s younger sister.

Release and box office
The film was released on 10 May 2013 with a U/A certificate. According to the source it was made for ₹150 million and earned a distributor’s share of ₹21 crore.
Reception and awards
Reviewers found it a well-made commercial entertainer, praising the performances of Naga Chaitanya and Sunil; Idlebrain said it had everything to satisfy mass audiences, and Oneindia felt it adapted Vettai well for Telugu tastes. Besides Sunil’s two awards, Tamannaah won the SIIMA Critics award for Best Actress, and Ashutosh Rana and Andrea Jeremiah received SIIMA nominations.
