Chitralahari is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language comedy drama written and directed by Kishore Tirumala and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. It stars Sai Dharam Tej, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Nivetha Pethuraj, with Sunil, Vennela Kishore, Posani Krishna Murali and Brahmaji in supporting roles. Released on 12 April 2019 to mixed-to-positive reviews, it was, according to the source, a commercial success.

Story

Vijay Krishna is an engineering graduate branded a loser for his bad luck and poor social skills. Everyone but his supportive father, Narayana, misunderstands him. He is clever, though, and has an idea for an app to help people in road accidents, for which he is seeking investors. He is in a relationship with Lahari but hides his drinking and his part-time job at a TV repair shop from her.

Production

The film was announced on 15 October 2018, along with its cast and crew. Regular shooting began on 19 November 2018 and was completed by March 2019.

Crew

Karthik Ghattamaneni was the cinematographer and A. Sreekar Prasad the editor.

Music

Devi Sri Prasad composed the music. Deccan Chronicle called his songs the high points of the film.

Reception

The Times of India gave it 3 out of 5 and called it a perfect summer watch, though it felt the strong supporting cast was wasted. Firstpost and Deccan Chronicle gave it 2.5, praising Sai Dharam Tej but finding the idea more interesting than the result. The Hindu said the film had its moments but its threads did not come together, and Telugucinema called it passable but better than the star’s recent films.
